The Gallyry was founded by Ally Faughnan in 2019. After researching the (lack of) representation of women in arts journalism, Ally decided to create an online magazine dedicated to championing women in the arts.
When the pandemic hit, creatives needed more than ever to collaborate and showcase their work online. The Gallyry evolved to focus on providing a platform for emerging creatives, keeping its support for women and non-binary people at the heart of its mission.
Within its first year, the magazine grew a community of 75+ contributors, publishing weekly interviews, artist spotlight features, opinion pieces, and reviews. The Gallyry later evolved to focus on platforming emerging creatives through interviews.
The studio was launched to collaborate with emerging creatives. The Gallyry worked on a range of projects including a creative careers guide with I LIKE NETWORKING, bookmarks collection with Made by Women Zines, and its own online exhibition.
